Free and Premium
What is free, and what is Stovo Premium?
Free: up to 2 shopping lists per household, Shopping, Pantry, bought → Pantry, natural Quick Add, list import, item pictures, loyalty cards, the Apple Watch app, household and single-list sharing, iCloud sync, offline use, reminders and English/German. Premium: unlimited shopping lists, nine more color themes, Favorites, Frequently Bought and Recently Bought, remembered usual quantities, smarter Quick Add suggestions based on your household’s history, and Siri & Shortcuts.
Is there a free trial?
The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial when you’re eligible; Apple decides eligibility. The price and the trial are shown in the app before you subscribe.
What happens to my lists if Premium ends?
Nothing is deleted. Every list you already have stays usable; you just can’t create lists beyond the two free ones until you subscribe again.
How does Apple Family Sharing work with Stovo Premium?
One subscription covers your whole family: the subscriber can share Stovo Premium with up to 5 additional family members through Apple Family Sharing (turn on Share with Family for the subscription in your Apple subscription settings). Family members see “Premium through Apple Family Sharing” in Stovo → Settings → Stovo Premium. The subscriber manages the subscription.
How does Premium work for my Stovo household?
When a member of a Stovo household has Premium, the whole household has it — the other members don’t need a subscription of their own. In Stovo → Settings → Stovo Premium you can see which household your Premium covers and move it to another. If the subscription ends, or the subscriber leaves, the household goes back to Free at the next sync.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Stovo → Settings → Stovo Premium and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that subscribed.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Open Stovo → Settings → Stovo Premium → Manage Subscription, or go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Only the person whose Apple Account subscribed can manage or cancel it; family and household members don’t see this option.
How do I use Siri & Shortcuts?
Siri & Shortcuts is part of Stovo Premium and is off until you switch it on in Stovo → Settings → Siri & Shortcuts. Then you can add items, open a list or ask what’s at home by voice or from the Shortcuts app.
Loyalty cards
How do I add a loyalty card?
Open the Cards tab and tap Add Card. Pick the store (or Other card), then scan the code with the camera, choose a screenshot from your photos, or type the number. Check the card, then save. Scanning or importing is the most reliable, because Stovo keeps exactly the code it reads.
Why does my card show only a number, without a barcode?
Stovo never invents a barcode. If you type a number and Stovo can’t be sure how the store draws its code, the card is saved as a number. Open the card and choose Add the Barcode to scan the real card or import a screenshot; the name, note and picture are kept.
A code doesn’t scan at the till.
Raise the screen brightness (Stovo does this while a card is open), hold the phone flat and still, and try again. If it still fails, open the card’s menu and choose Doesn’t Scan?, then scan the original card again. Some store apps show a code that changes every few seconds; a saved copy of such a code may stop working. Stovo shows a reminder on those cards. Stovo is not a payment wallet and doesn’t work with payment terminals.
Where are my cards stored? Does my household see them?
On your device, and in your own private iCloud when iCloud sync is on, with the name, number, note and picture encrypted. They are never shared with your household or any list. To keep cards on the device only, turn on Settings → iCloud & Sync → Keep Cards on This Device.
I can’t find my store.
Search for it in Add Card; if it isn’t there, choose Other card or tap the request button to ask us to add it. Only the store name you typed, your country and language setting, and the app version are sent.
Apple Watch
What does the Apple Watch app do?
It opens the list you used last, lets you switch lists, and lets you check items off with a short Undo (and Last Used to bring one back). It keeps working offline and syncs when it can. It also shows your loyalty cards, and offers a watch face or Smart Stack widget with the number of items left. It needs watchOS 11 or later and is free.
Do I need my iPhone with me?
Your lists sync directly between your watch and iCloud, so shopping works without the iPhone. Loyalty cards reach the watch from your iPhone, so a new, changed or deleted card arrives only when the two can connect. A card already on the watch opens without the iPhone.
Why don’t my cards show on the watch?
If Keep Cards on This Device is on, cards go to the watch only after you switch on Settings → iCloud & Sync → Apple Watch → Cards on Apple Watch. Cards that Stovo can’t show faithfully on the watch are listed as “only on your iPhone”.
Notifications and reminders
How do I turn on reminders?
Open Stovo → Settings → Notifications. Notifications are off until you turn them on; Stovo asks for permission the first time you do. Shopping Reminders remind you on the weekday and time you choose. For a single list, open the list menu and choose Reminder: Later today, Tomorrow, Weekly or a date and time of your own.
When does Stovo not send a reminder?
When the list has nothing left to buy, when the list is deleted, and when the reminder is switched off. Reminders are set up on each device separately, so turn them on on the devices where you want them.
Which sharing notifications are there?
With Household & List Updates on, Stovo tells you when someone joins or leaves your household or a shared list. It never notifies about items added, checked off or edited.
I don’t get notifications.
Check Stovo → Settings → Notifications. If it says “Off in iOS”, open iOS Settings → Notifications → Stovo and allow notifications (Stovo has a button that takes you there). iOS asks for permission only once, so after choosing Don’t Allow you need to turn it on in iOS Settings.
iCloud sync
How do I turn on iCloud sync?
Sign in to iCloud in the Settings app on each device. Stovo then syncs your lists and pantry on its own. You can check the status in Stovo under Settings → iCloud & Sync.
Does Stovo work offline?
Yes. Everything works without a connection. Changes made offline sync the next time the device is online.
Sync says “Needs Attention” or “Paused”.
“Needs Attention” usually means your iCloud storage is full; Stovo keeps working on the device and syncs again once there is space. “Paused” means a different iCloud account is now signed in; Stovo keeps your data on the device until you choose to sync it with the new account.
Sharing a household
How do I share my lists and pantry?
With iCloud sync on, open Settings → Household → Invite Person and invite people. Everyone needs an Apple Account. The people you invite see and edit the same lists, pantry and history.
How do I accept an invitation?
Open the invitation link on an iPhone or iPad that has Stovo installed and is signed in to iCloud. Stovo opens the shared household; your own household stays too, and you can switch between them in Settings → Household.
How do I leave a household or stop sharing?
If you were invited, open Settings → Household and choose Leave Household; the shared data is removed from your devices and the others keep it. If you own the household, choose Manage Sharing to remove people or stop sharing; you keep everything.
How do I share just one list?
Open the list, tap the list menu and choose Share This List. The people you invite see and edit only that list — not your pantry, your purchase history or your other lists. People in your household keep seeing the list as usual. Items someone buys from a shared list go to the Pantry they choose in the list menu (“Purchases go to …”); nobody else sees that choice.
How do I leave a shared list?
Choose Leave List in the list menu. Items you previously bought remain in the Pantry they were added to.
A new device, or restoring
I have a new iPhone or iPad. How do I get my data?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and install Stovo. With iCloud sync, your lists and pantry arrive automatically.
I don’t use iCloud.
Then your data lives only on the device it was entered on. Restoring an iPhone or iPad backup restores it; otherwise it cannot be moved to another device.
Something is missing on one device.
Make sure both devices are online and signed in to the same iCloud account, then open Stovo on both. Changes usually arrive within a few moments once both are connected.
Stovo shows a screen saying it can’t open its data.
Your data is not deleted. Tap Try Again first. If it keeps happening, tap Copy Details for Support and send them to us — they help us find the cause.
Pantry
How does shopping reach the pantry?
When you check an item off your shopping list, it’s added to your pantry automatically. Checked off the wrong item? Tap it under Last Used within two minutes to undo the purchase.
How do I add things I already have?
In Pantry, tap “Add to pantry…” and type what you have, for example “500 g Rice” or “2 Milk”. If the product is already in your pantry, the amount is added to it.
How do I correct an amount?
Swipe a pantry item to take away a small amount, or open it and choose Adjust Stock to remove or add an exact amount, or Set to Zero. The oldest stock is used up first. Corrections never change your shopping history.
What are Fridge, Pantry and Other?
Every pantry item is kept in one place — Fridge, Pantry or Other (in German: Kühlschrank, Vorrat, Sonstiges). Stovo picks a sensible place for common products; to change it, open the item and choose a Location, or touch and hold it and choose Move to. Stovo remembers your choice for next time. The filter at the top of Pantry shows one place at a time.
Appearance
How do I change the color theme?
Open Settings → Appearance. Light, Dark or System, and a color theme. Stovo’s own theme is free; the other nine are part of Stovo Premium. The theme is a setting of each device.
Languages
Which languages does Stovo support?
English and German. Stovo follows your device language. To use a different language only for Stovo, open Settings → Language & Region → Language in Stovo, which takes you to Stovo’s page in the Settings app. Products are recognized in both languages, so “Milch” and “Milk” land in the same place.
Requirements
Stovo for iPhone and iPad, with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, and for Apple Watch with watchOS 11 or later. Available in English and German.
How your data is handled: Privacy Policy. Stovo Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold by Apple, under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
